During 2021, we’re proud to contribute to the Sidrap Wind Farm in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The project is certified by The Gold Standard.
The project has so far constructed 30 wind turbines with a total capacity of 75 MW. Each year, the project contributes 253,000 MWh to the national power grid – enough to supply over 70,000 homes – and is Indonesia’s first full utility-scale wind farm.
This initiative reduces Indonesia’s reliance on fossil fuels for electricity generation, allowing the country to benefit from clean energy in a time when electricity usage is rapidly increasing throughout the nation.
The result is that coal and other fossil fuel-fired electricity generating facilities can be replaced with green, renewable energy in order to decrease air pollution and far lower Co2 emissions.
The project creates 35 new jobs and promotes equal pay for work of equivalent value.
